Hyundai launches the all-new Palisade, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 9

Today, Hyundai Motor Philippines has officially launched the all-new Palisade, the updated IONIQ 5, and its largest EV yet, the three-row IONIQ 9. With the addition of the IONIQ 9, this brings Hyundai’s expansive vehicle lineup to a whopping 14 cars. Without further ado, let’s talk about what these three new cars have in store, starting with the Palisade.

Now in its second generation, the Hyundai Palisade ditches diesel for a more advanced hybrid powertrain. Specifically, the Palisade on sale here in the country is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine paired with a hybrid system generating a total output of 258 hp. With the addition of the electric motor, power is bumped up to 329 hp and 422 Nm of torque, delivering power to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of looks, the second-gen Palisade boasts a boxier profile, much like the Santa Fe, a slightly longer wheelbase, and clean, sleek edges, which are made apparent by its LED headlights, sharp LED taillights, and expansive grille.
Because the Palisade serves as Hyundai’s most luxurious crossover, the interior is home to an array of tech and comfort features. Beginning with the infotainment system, the Palisade has a 12.3-inch screen coupled with 14 Bose speakers placed throughout the cabin. The first and second row have power-adjustable seats, with the third row even getting a power-folding function. Other features include Nappa leather upholstery, a sunroof, a power tailgate, and the full array of Hyundai Smartsense advanced driver aids.
Up next, we’ve got the IONIQ 9. Sharing almost similar dimensions to the Palisade, this electric crossover is the largest EV Hyundai has ever built and the only three-row vehicle in the IONIQ line. Starting with power and range, the IONIQ 9’s dual-motor setup produces 308 hp and 605 Nm of torque. Beneath its sizable body lies a massive 110.3 kWh battery, giving it a projected range of up to 620 km.
As for features, this IONIQ 9 is in the Calligraphy trim, which includes 21-inch turbine-style alloy wheels, LED projector headlights, body-colored wheel arches, a Bose sound system, and power-adjustable seats with memory function. Inside, it’s equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 10-inch head-up display. The IONIQ 9 also comes with Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of advanced driver assistance features and digital side mirrors replacing the traditional glass mirrors with cameras.
Last in the trio is the updated IONIQ 5. Though not much has changed on the outside, the updated IONIQ 5 features a bigger battery pack in both its Standard Range and Long Range variants. The Standard Range still pushes 168 hp and 350 Nm of torque, but with the slight boost in battery capacity, range has now gone up to 440 km. As for the Long Range version, power is rated at 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque, with the 84.4 kWh battery providing 530 km of range on a single charge.
Features? The IONIQ 5 comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen as standard, as well as dual-automatic climate control, forward and reverse parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Features exclusive to the top-spec IONIQ 5 GLS Long Range are Hyundai’s Smartsense suite of driver aids, 20-inch alloy wheels, digital side mirrors, a sunroof, and a surround view monitor.

- Ioniq 5 EV GL 2WD Standard Range – P2,840,000

- Ioniq 5 EV GLS 2WD Long Range – P3,698,000
- Ioniq 9 EV Calligraphy AWD Long Range – P4,580,000
