When speculation about the Hyundai N Vision 74 spread, people got excited about a new performance car and some Pony Day event that Hyundai allegedly had in the works. However, as quickly as these rumors spread, Hyundai was just as quick in shutting them down.

A few days ago, a Korean publication, Wikitree, formally contacted Hyundai to get a clear answer about the concept car. The company swiftly addressed the speculation, unequivocally dismissing it and affirming that they have no plans to pursue the production of the concept car.

On top of that, Hyundai has definitively denied any intentions of organizing a “Pony Day” event, which was speculated to be the platform for the anticipated unveiling of the production-ready version. So with that, the fate of the N Vision 74 was sealed, or so we thought.

In an interview with Top Gear, Hyundai’s chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke provided us hope for the concept car’s future. During the interview, Donckerwolke expressed his distaste for show business, stating, “I hate doing show cars and then—nothing.” When questioned about the potential production of the N Vision 74, he responded with confidence, saying, “Absolutely.” and adding, “We are serious about this. This could come into production. We have the platform—it’s a motorsport platform.”

While not an official announcement, Donckerwolke’s remarks subtly leave room for the potential production version of the N Vision 74, indicating that there is a glimmer of hope for enthusiasts. Furthermore, Donckerwolke added that the concept originated from Hyundai’s upper management, stating, “It’s always good when the management is telling you [to do it]. There is nothing unfeasible about this car. It’s pure. We’re hoping and we’re working and it’s only a matter of the right constellation.”

The clamor and excitement for the N Vision 74 are understandable, to say the least, with its handsome, race-ready looks and monstrous powertrain. Power is provided by two electric motors on the rear axle which are supplied by a battery and a hydrogen fuel cell. According to Hyundai, this powertrain is capable of putting out 670 hp and 899 Nm of torque, sent to the road via the rear wheels.

Should Hyundai decide to bring the Vision N Vision 74 into production, Donckerwolke indicated that it would likely be produced as a “limited series.” Regardless, we think that the N Vision 74 is a gorgeous car that deserves to have a road-going version. Ultimately, however, it’s still up to Hyundai whether or not it puts the concept car into production.
